The care plan: checked, photographed, re-taught — every year
A softener you were taught once, three years ago, is a softener you're fuzzy on today. The care plan fixes that the simple way: every year I come out, check your settings, and re-teach anything you've forgotten.
What the annual visit includes
Every year I come out, check your settings, and re-teach anything you've forgotten.
That sentence is the heart of it. The annual visit is the visit that keeps your warranty valid: I check the system over, photograph your settings (the same record we start from at install), refresh your settings card if it needs it, and spend about fifteen minutes re-teaching anything from your install lesson that has gone fuzzy — bypass first, because that's the one that matters at 2 a.m.
Your book never leaves, either: your valve's quick guide and full factory manual live in the manuals library, and the emergency page is there the night you need the bypass and can't remember which way it turns.
Add-on while I'm there: your water heater's yearly flush
The plan is your softener's year — the heater standing next to it has a maintenance job of its own that isn't part of the plan: draining and flushing the sediment out of the tank, about once a year. The heater makers put it in their manuals, and their warranties assume it gets done — A. O. Smith's applies only with the tank kept “free of damaging water sediment or scale deposits.”
If you want it handled on the same trip as your annual visit, ask me when we book and I'll add the flush to the visit. Prefer to do it yourself? The water heater flush owner's guide walks it, safety steps and all.
What it costs
Essential — $39 a month. The annual lesson-and-check visit is included in it, not sold back to you as an extra, and that annual visit is the one that keeps your warranty valid.
Essential, paid yearly — $399 a year. The same Essential plan, one yearly payment instead of monthly.
Start Essential Annual — $399/year
Plus — $69 a month. Everything in Essential, on the Plus tier.
